Roles

After reading through the content, you will find links to files to help you plan out the roles for your local area camp.

If you’ve been to Young Life camp, you know that it takes an army of people to make it happen. Local area camping is no different! You may not need an army, but inviting a village will only make your experience more rich and full for all involved, including you!

Hosting a local area camp experience gives you the gift of being able to invite people to “come and see” your ministry! Think about staff in your region who would benefit from seeing Capernaum in action! Consider other ministries in Young Life who could serve you while giving themselves an amazing discipleship experience. Consider how you could involve your committee and even some of your donors. The possibilities are endless when camp gets to be in your “backyard”!

Many staff and volunteer leaders in Young Life would love more opportunities to grow in specific roles like camp directing, speaking, doing program or serving as a head leader. As you begin to consider your team, think about the people in your region who are proven leaders in these areas or who would like to grow. If you aren’t sure where to begin, reach out to your Capernaum Regional Coordinator or your Regional Director for advice. They may know of more staff in your region who would welcome opportunities for growth!

Some roles that we feel are crucial to a successful and excellent local camp experience:

Camp Director, Speaker, Program, Music, Head Leaders, Work Crew, High School Buddies and a Medical Professional.

In this section, you’ll find some thoughts regarding some of these groups, while others will be in the folders that they specifically connect to (i.e.- speaker thoughts in the Gospel Proclamation section).
