It’s time to start thinking about getting your friends signed up for camp and to consider how you’ll maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
Young Life is a relationship based ministry and we want our camping experiences to mirror that. When considering your local camp experience, be sure that you have plenty of adult leaders each day to not only care for the needs of your friends, but to also invest relationally throughout the day. Having high school buddies is a beautiful gift to everyone. Buddies are at camp to be peers, to build relationships with your friends with disabilities and to have an amazing experience together. If you don’t currently have high school buddies in your club, consider a conversation with other staff and leaders in your area to talk about the discipleship opportunity that is available for them!
You’ll also want to consider the medical care of your friends. If one of your leaders is not a medical professional, think through people in your community who you could invite to serve at camp with you. You could ask other staff in your area, your committee or even some of your donors if they know a doctor or nurse who would be willing to join you for camp.
If there happens to be an incident of any type during your camping experience, you’ll want to call the Red Card and complete the Capernaum Incident Form (an online form).
Since it is a local experience, you will not need a traditional Young Life Camp Health Form, but you should have a Parent/Guardian Interview Form (Form #6054) and Consent Release for YL Activity (Form #1717) on file in YL Connect for every camper. At the end of your camping experience, you’ll complete an N-Form (an online form that captures YL camping at non-YL camps).
In this section you’ll see some example registration pages, example fliers and some example check-in/check-out sheets as well as some other helpful tools.
Please note that details of this fund are still forthcoming as we seek to support those impacted by COVID-19.
COVID-19 (coronavirus) is a crisis for the global Young Life community, and of course for all those we serve; we are praying for all of those impacted. Young Life has a presence in places where the coronavirus pandemic has hit especially hard. We are creating the COVID-19 Relief Fund to assist in specific and necessary ways to support staff and volunteers in these communities with their continued outreach in the lives of young people at this crucial time.
What will the COVID-19 Relief Fund do? It will help us in some of our key mission locations where the impact of this crisis has been particularly negative and where there are limited ways to combat this impact.
All dollars in this fund will be leveraged and matched one time, and sometimes, 2-3x. The very purpose and heart of this fund is to make sure we sustain and grow ministry where the impact has been greatest.
At the mission level we already have in place a Stewardship Allocation Committee, which will make sure these funds are given to the greatest needs.
Given the widespread economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we urge our faithful friends who are able to continue supporting ministries that currently rely on them. For some, we realize that this crisis has hit very hard; we are praying for you at this time. For those who are able, we ask that you consider giving beyond your current level of support with a contribution to the COVID-19 Relief Fund. Ministry continues in a powerful way, and kids need the friendship of their Young Life leader and the hope of the gospel more than ever.
